Guess The Flag
Guess The Flag is a very cool educational game in which you have to…..guess the flags! The game is based on Google Maps and the goal is try to guess as much countries with the flag that is showing. For every right answer you get one point, and I have to say it’s pretty hard to get a lot of countries right.
Ok, the big countries are not that hard, but there are many countries where you probably don’t know the existence of. It makes for an interesting game and playing it with friends can culminate in a big battle. You learn on the way, what makes it a great educational game. Not as educational as the games on the Nobel Prize site, but hey, it is still very educational.
As a teacher myself, I am fond of games with an educational character. They can be hard to find however, as the commercial value of most educational games is not that high. I use the games I find to teach the kids in my class in a fun way. They are in the age of 7-12 and especially this age really likes to learn in general, as long as you teach the right way. You can imagine that teaching with the help of games is a great way. The kids love the competitive element and learning goes without any effort. With the guess the flag game there were kids that even wanted to continue playing in their break!
You can play the flag game in many different languages from French to Chinese to Arabic. Try it, this can’t be a bad addiction right?

DJ Hero 2 trailer with DJ Tiësto
The supercool video game DJ Hero -in which you can be the DJ yourself- gets a sequel. DJ Hero 2 is releasing october 19 this year and will be more spectacular than his predecessor. One nice feature of the game is that a new character in the game is Dutch DJ Tiësto. Voted 2 times as the best DJ in the world, this is a great addition. Tiësto even made two exclusive mixes for the game.

Mini Clips
Miniclip.com is a one of the most famous mini games site on the web. Started in 2001, the number of players skyrocketed in the years thereafter. Part of the succes is the multiplayer game feature with which people can play against their friends and can compare their skills.
The succes of miniclip.com has awoken many other business in the past few years. Many sites tried to lift on the succes of the site, some of them succesful, some of them less succesful. One of my personal favourites in this category is onminclip.com. The site has been around since 2005 and was one of the first which lifted on the succes of the famous miniclip site. OnMiniclip doesn’t have the slick graphics of some other gaming sites, but it does have a tremendous amount of cool games. Because of the simple graphics it also has a shorter load time. This means that people without a super fast ADSL or cable connection also can experience the fun of playing mini games.
If you check out the site, don’t forget to look in the action games category. There are many cool action games like a few of the popular Ben 10 games.
